MARILYN PROULX
Marilyn Proulx was born in Manchester, New Hampshire in 1950. She graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1977 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Service. It was here that she met her husband, Andre Proulx, that she was married to for 45 years. Andre passed away from cancer in 2022.
Marilyn has been a wife, mother and grandmother which she feels is her greatest blessing in life so far.
The family relocated to Fort Myers, Florida in 1987 where Marilyn became employed as a Lee County School Social Worker until her retirement 14 years ago.
Marilyn has authored a #1 best selling book entitled, “Christianity is Easy Until Tragedy Strikes.” This book describes the loss of Marilyn’s 29 year old daughter Katie to cancer. She has also co-authored (along with her husband), a business leadership book that also became a #1 best seller. The books can be ordered on Amazon.com.
Marilyn now resides in the Tampa, Florida area for winters and summers at Hampton Beach, New Hampshire. This is her original home state. Hampton Beach has restored the peace and tranquility to her life that had been overcome with anxiety and grief. To be able to write this book, I had to dig way down deep inside myself, STRIKES into what I call my inside locked box. It is a place where I do not like to go very often. It contains all my hurts, fears, sadness and pain. Once I opened that box, my emotions begin to pour out of me. After finally finishing the book, these emotions went back into that locked box and I then began to feel a sense of peace and accomplishment.
Losing a child is probably the worst thing that can happen to any parent. However, people can experience many types of tragedies depending on their situations. If a parent gets ill with Alzheimer's or any other disease, that can be a tragedy for the child as well as the parent. Yet when another person loses a pet, and that can be a tragedy for him or her. We all experience some type of tragedy, sometimes many, during our lifetime. My most recent tragedy was the loss of a child. In the book, I discuss my faith as connected to the tragedy.
In writing this book, I hope that I can touch people's lives. There are so many people out there who are hurting and struggling through life because of their current situation. My Lord and Savior is Jesus Christ. He has begun to heal my pain and ease my burdens. My prayer is that he can do the same MARILYN PROULX thing for you and your family!
